Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship, pre-press staff emerge as adept professionals proficient in the foundational processes preceding printing and finishing stages, equipped to handle various tasks with finesse. They possess the expertise to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders, collaboratively proposing and finalising design specifications to meet client needs.

A skilled print pre-press technician will be able to demonstrate the ability to discern and manipulate digital files effectively, whether it be textual content, images, or supplementary materials acquired through scanning or photography. They will excel in typographic composition, meticulously arranging elements within documents to achieve optimal visual appeal and readability, employing a keen eye for font selection, spacing, and layout.

Utilising specialised software applications, they will adeptly navigate page makeup and photo editing tools, seamlessly translating conceptual designs into tangible digital artwork. Their proficiency extends to the critical task of proofing and amending artwork in adherence to company protocols, ensuring accuracy and consistency while maintaining meticulous records and upholding GDPR compliance standards.

They will exhibit a nuanced understanding of color management, skillfully applying appropriate color profiles and design principles tailored to diverse printing materials, thereby ensuring the production of high-quality, visually impactful artwork suitable for a range of contexts and applications.
