What you will do in your working day
As a Print Apprentice you will be fully supported in undertaking a range of on the job learning and tutor led training to become a fully qualified Printer.
Working with some traditional kit & some of the newest print machines on the market, you will perform key tasks such as:
- Learn all about print and digital processes
- Undertake relevant studies in a print capacity as necessary with BPIF apprentice course
- Assist Printers in setting up, running and clean down to ensure presses are kept continually running
- Work in accordance with Company HSE procedures to ensure compliance with working practices & standards at all times
Skills:
- Must be able to undertake relevant Apprenticeship in print (BPIF)
- Have excellent time management skills and be reliable
- Have a high attention to detail
- Good IT and technical skills/ability
- Ability to work as part of a team and be able to use own initiative
- Be receptive to cross train in all areas of the business
- A helpful and co-operative attitude
What you will have:
- 3 GCSE’s grade C/4 or equivalent to include Maths and English and preferably IT/Tech
- A keen interest in print
- Be inquisitive and want to learn
- Be prepared to study for the relevant apprenticeship
The training you will be getting
- You will undertake weekly learning directed by BPIF Training alongside daily hands on training.
- Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the qualification obtained will be a Level 3 Print Technician Apprenticeship standard.
- The apprentice will be given sufficient time to undertake their “off-the-job” requirement of the apprenticeship during their working hours.
- Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be supported by both Image Digital Print and the BPIF. You will be assigned a training coordinator to ensure that you have the best training available. Training requirements will be discussed at the point of employment to suit your individual needs and business needs. Most training and studying will be a combination of site-based and remote delivery.
- You will have a strong core knowledge covering print, paper science, pre & post press.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- Upon successful completion of the Level 3 Print Technician apprenticeship, you will become a full time print operator who can run different printing equipment models/specifications specialising in colour management.
