As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Assist the department to achieve target run speeds and obtain optimum performance.
  • Follow Pecas work-ticket plan and coordinate material supply with the forklift driver.
  • Produce Pecas tickets for scrap, rejected or returned loads and to secure loads prior to removal from area.
  • Assist in the preparation of subsequent jobs and during make readies to achieve efficient change over between jobs, minimizing lost production time.
  • Ensure machine area is kept clean and tidy.
  • Help machine crews to achieve efficient running and cover meal breaks.
  • Carry out all duties in a safe and efficient manner whilst conforming to H&S procedures.
  • Undertake Behavioural Based Safety (BBS) training.
  • Present loads to press to the highest standard to generate high quality and efficient production.
  • Input Pecas work-ticket information accurately for all load details and report any shortages or material problems.
  • Produce loads consumed report and check its content.
  • Ticket all loads removed from feeder and return to stock (inform shift manager).
  • Perform a timely and thorough handover with the oncoming shift to include safety, plan, machine condition and quality.
  • Participate and contribute to all activities to improve safety, quality, productivity and lean initiatives.
  • Ensure all quality checks are completed timely and support all quality and 5S gemba activities.
