What you will do in your working day

You will be shown and trained to run a variety of print finishing equipment, including (but not limited to):

  • Folding machines
  • Stitching/binding machines
  • Laminating machines
  • Die-cutting/creasing machines

In time, you will be able to make-ready (set up), run and maintain jobs as you move through the work list, liaising with other departments along the way.

The training you will be getting

  • Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the qualification obtained will be a Level 3 Print Technician Apprenticeship Standard and Functional Skills in English and maths if required.
  • The apprentice will be given sufficient time to undertake their “off-the-job” requirement of the apprenticeship and throughout your time as an apprentice you will be supported by both Bendart Limited and the BPIF.
  • You will be assigned a training coordinator to ensure that you have the best training available.
  • Training requirements will be discussed at the point of employment to suit your individual needs and business needs.
  • Most training and studying will be site based.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • You will integrate fully into the bindery/finishing department and eventually take over management of the department once incumbents retire.
