What you will do in your working day
In addition to the Apprenticeship syllabus, you can expect to be involved in a range of tasks across the signage production process, including: Receiving hand-on training on both small and large format printers Understanding the culture, values and processes of the printing and graphic communication industry Receiving a printed product, such as vinyl, which needs to be weeded out and then application film applied Mounting and laminating a product Quality controlling, packaging and dispatching a job to the client Practical knowledge of engraving and garment printing You will work alongside an experience team, that will help you to learn the entire process of digital graphics production, from the creation of graphics and application on site. You will be helping to design and organise signage and graphics and getting experience across all of our equipment. You will learn how to erect signage and apply graphics on site for a range of clients, so you will see the finished results of our work in areas like advertising and commercial vehicles. Using software such as Corel Draw and Roland Versa works to prepare and print files on sign media Laminate vinyl using roll-to roll laminator Trim and weed vinyl where necessary Mount vinyl onto Foamex/ACM/acrylic/vehicles Quality control and packing jobs for despatch and installation Survey client sites/vehicles for requirements and sizes Installation of small signs and vinyl as a one-person team Assist in bigger installations as part of a two-person team Duties include printing, cutting and mounting vinyl on substrates, interpreting client requests via online orders and packaging signs for delivery
The training you will be getting
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the qualification obtained will be a L3 Signage Technician Apprenticeship Standard. The apprentice will be given sufficient time to undertake their “off-the-job” requirement of the apprenticeship. Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be supported by both Atomic Signs and BPIF Training. You will be assigned a training coordinator to ensure that you have the best training available. Training requirements will be discussed at the point of employment to suit your individual needs and business needs. Most training and studying will be site-based.
